We had a fantastic time and we all enjoyed the meal. Great selection of champagne and wine. Dishes were all well executed and the set menu was fair. Great for vegetarians. Staff were friendly and helpful and took time explaining the dishes. Modern atmosphere and open kitchen.
I had very high expectations and that might have been the issue, but I can't recommend this place. Maybe for someone that tried all high cuisine restaurants in Amsterdam, but is there someone like that out there?
The warm dishes were arriving cold to our table, the meat was gummy and hard, the fish wasn't properly dressed, etc.
The restaurant provides a great fine dine experience in Amsterdam .. the staff is courteous and very knowledgeable. We got great recommendations on the wine and food. Food was elegant and delicious.. the open kitchen provides an interesting view.. added bonus ‘they serve orange wines too’ we had a 4 course meal and it was enough for us.. u can choose 5 or 6 courses too. For the main there was a choice between lamb or fish. The restaurant is spacious and modern… recommended for couples or groups!
This is a fabulous restaurant with impeccable service and extremely well prepared food. We visited on Christmas Eve so we had a fixed menu, and it may not be representative.
What I can say is that this cuisine is not for everyone! It was extremely unusual for us, and I don't think it was because it was traditional dutch. It was almost in the realm of "experimental"! But again, amazingly conceived and executed with attentive formal service in a modern and lively setting.
I give it a 5 because it was extraordinary, but none of the 6 of us actually liked the meal. Hope this helps!
Best service I’ve ever had in Amsterdam and I used to live here. Went with my mother and we both had a wonderful meal. She had the himachi and the cod, I had brassica and hare and the pear & algae sponge cake. Great wines, terrific sourdough. Highly recommended if you value ingredients, creativity and taste over quantity.
The restaurant is located in a very calm area in the center of the city that makes it unique and special. The interior is relaxing with breathable space and nice dine in areas.
Staff were super helpful, some are friendlier than others. Overall they take time to explain, get feedback and be there for anything you need.
As for food, dishes varied from plates (in the warm section) being amazing with distinguishing new ingredients and flavors and others (in main plates and desserts) being fair in taste. However all plates were really neatly presented.
Selection of wines and drinks were excellent
I don't usually give reviews but this restuarant needs one! Spent around 270 Euros for Christmas Eve dinner for two (55 Euros for the wine per person, 80 Euros per person for the food). Expectations were a great evening with two other couples!
About the evening: Nice atmosphere, Small pours on the wine. Several light courses of food with a wine pairing. I didn't finish any of them (food). If you liked over priced food, slow service (not the waiters fault) and cold food this is the place for you! In conclusion I would describe the night as what felt like a culinary art school where the teacher instructed the students to make a tapa out of crazy ingredients. For example, the desert ice cream was made out of sea weed. Seriously, they need to focus on taste, texture and pairing! One of the wine pairings was Kombucha (clue, not even a wine. The bread and butter was excellent though. Top 3 on the worst dining experiences of mine, I will not be back!!!
The location is really nice, very good interiors and vibe. All waiters were very professional and welcoming. We ordered the 5 courses dinner menu and it wasn’t bad but it definitely missed a bit of kick, almost all the dishes were a bit plain in terms of taste.
